Little Things

I see so many really cute, small, knitted things. But knitting small things feels fiddly, and I don't do it very often. I'm learning that crochet has a really different feel, though, and it seems ideally suited for making small things. I used leftover yarn and whipped out 3 of these guys in no time at all yesterday.

Aren't they fun? These are the bird brooches from Crochet Adorned. They can be used in so many different ways! I can even see myself making a tree full of these as ornaments.

Details are on Ravelry. I have more crochet in the works, so stay tuned.

  1. Oooh, what fun! I agree, crocheting lends itself to fuss-free small things, while knitting is just fussy. Not that's I've crocheted many small items to date :)

  2. They're beautiful! I love your bird brooches - the blue one is especially eye-catching. And I think they'd be lovely ornaments too -- or even gift toppers.

When I took up crocheting, I realized that I was looking at my leftover yarn in a new way. I was glad I obsessively stashed the smallest bits of yarn!

  3. It is so awesome that you are crocheting. Your crochet looks so perfect! I've been thinking that some of the sweaters in Interweave Crochet look *super* cute, so I now expect you to make those lacy/fitted/vintage-y things so I can ogle/admire/covet. :D
