Tat's the Way I Like It (uh-huh, uh-huh)

I love trying out new things, so when I saw Jennifer's post about needle tatting, of course I had to do it! Now, I have heard of tatting before. I even often play the word "tat" on Boggle, LOL! But when I saw the pictures, I realized that what I thought was tatting is really not (it's Hardanger).

I immediately called up my LYS. They didn't carry tatting needles (yet!), but the owner very helpfully sent me a link to Handy Hands Tatting. After making some more calls, I was able to track down that brand of needles at a nearby Hobby Lobby, and off I went! They are basically like very long tapestry needles, and it was only $12 for a set of 4 different sizes. I already had plenty of crochet thread.

I made the same project Jennifer did. There are written instructions with pictures, but I preferred watching the video tutorial. It's really mesmerizing! I previewed it a few times...

...and then followed along (BTW, she pronounces "picot" a little differently--don't let that throw you off!). It was really quick and easy. Yay for instant gratification!

I thourght she said "peacock"... and thourght about I would call it a "picot" in stead. Then I felt a little stupid... :-)
