Inspired by Unplggd to make an earbud holder:
The original instructions call for using a old credit card, but I don't think it's such a great idea to have your credit card number showing, even if it's an old one! You're also supposed to use a heavy-duty utility knife to cut the shape and a drill to create the holes. I can't be bothered with all that, LOL! I used a spent gift card, heavy-duty scissors, and a very strong paper hole punch. I eye-balled the cuts, so they're admittedly not that even, but I realized afterwards that I could have marked my cuts with a dry-erase marker, which would have come off easily when I was done. I cut some thickness to the slits so that it wouldn't create stress on the wires when they're slipped in and out. Using an old nail file that really is too coarse to use on fingernails, I filed down the cut edges so they'd be smooth. Hopefully, this will keep the earbuds my daughter uses from being a tangled mess all the time.
This is such a great idea! I might have to sacrifice one of the old cards I use for doing Konad!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! Using gift cards is much smarter, in my opinion :-)
ReplyDeleteI actually don't mind untangling earbud cords -- it's so much easier than untangling yarn! But I guess when I'm not around to do the untangling for them, these holders would come in handy for the kids.
Cool! I'll need to remember to save the next gift card!
