Inspired By

Inspired by Rainy Tuesday Mornings to make a crayon monogram:

It's going to be a present for my younger daughter's teacher. I consulted my 11-year-old about the font since she's our resident expert. I told her I wanted something pretty simple but with a little bit of a serif for interest. She suggested Times New Roman, so that's what we used. We printed the outline of a single letter in 780-point size, boldface, as the template for cutting out the crayons with a very good craft blade. It was the right height to use up a 24-count box of crayons, minus the white, black, or brown. I did need an extra of 2 of the colors in order to create the illusion of a longer crayon near the top and bottom. My daughter wrote a little note, and I framed it with the monogram in a 12x12" shadowbox.

I got the supplies for this project on Sunday, when I used Michaels coupon for 25% off the total purchase. I purchased several other things, too, so I might have more crafty goodies to share soon.

  1. This is so awesome! Times New Roman was a great choice - classic. I'm anxious to see what else you guys have been up to :-)

  2. Thank you so much. I've also been dying to make the melted crayon art that is all over Pinterest, so maybe that'll be next.
