New Beginning

A new year, a new beginning. I had gotten kind of stuck on my International Sweater because I'm still trying to figure out the pockets and the hem. To clear my mind, I tried to cast on for a quickie leg warmer project, but that was an utter fail (I should have read the designer's project page more carefully--even she hasn't actually worn the leg warmers!). I decided I really needed something fresh on my needles. Enter the Bettie's Pullover:

This starts out with over 2" of 1x1 rib on size 4 needles, but I'm finding it very relaxing and not tedious (yet!). After this comes some feather and fan. I'm looking forward to mindful knit to start out the year. How about you? Have you started anything new already this year?

  1. Your yarn is gorgeous! I can imagine it's a real pleasure to knit with such a beautiful color and texture. I love that sweater too, so I'll be interested to see how yours comes out.

I started my Still Light dress a few days ago, but it's SLOW going!

  2. What a pretty color! Looking forward to seeing more of your progress on this sweater as I'm a fan of the feather-and-fan stitch (oops, no pun intended). Yes, I've already casted on a new cardigan and am excited about all the new projects I have waiting in the wings to cast on. Cheers to another great year of knitting!

  3. Today was a relaxing day, and I enjoyed playing with my yarn. Cheers to you, too, Evelyn and Gail!

  4. I love Bettie and also love feather and fan, a stitch pattern that has big bang for your buck. I cast on for a Kim Hargreaves tunic on Christmas day and hope to have it finished today or tomorrow.

  6. I opted for some mindless knitting too. Just started the Sothia Shawl which is garter stitch for the first 100 rows or so -- very relaxing!

  7. I'm adding the Bettie's pullover to my queue. I just started the Gemma capelet from Knitting off the Axis. I like the look of capelets, but I'm not sure if I will actually wear it.
