The Difference Between Right and Wrong

Can't Make Just One
I've been working on the Mitered Crosses blanket this week. I would have loved to use Noro like the pattern suggests, but I know the tactile preferences of my family, and I'd be the only one who didn't think it was scratchy. So I went looking for an alternative and settled on Liberty Wool. It's not quite as pretty as Noro, and there are fewer colorways, but it has long color repeats and it's washable, which helps when you have kids.
I have to say, this is a really addictive knit! Most of my projects are monochromatic, but I do like the occasional project with multi-colored yarns. It's fun to see what color comes next out of the ball and how it all goes together. I am allowing myself to edit out white sections of yarn since I want a contrast between the cross and the background color, but other than that, I'm just knitting it as it comes.
I was a little mad at myself after I realized I wasn't being entirely consistent with how I picked up stitches. I have since found a little tip (Rav link) on making it easier, but it was a bit late for me. I decided to just let it go since worrying about it seems to go agains the spirit of the project!
The pattern is well-written and cleverly designed. The pattern is modular, so you get a sense of accomplishment at the end of each little section. It's rhythmic enough to be relaxing but interesting enough to not be boring. In other words, it's a mindful knit, not a mindless one. I have other WIPs and I keep telling myself I'll take a break from the blanket and work on them. But first, maybe just one more block...
