Inspired By

Inspired by an Anthropologie ribbon wrap bracelet, via Melissa Wehrle, and Dedegumo wrap bracelets, via Stylespotting, to improvise a little wrap bracelet:

This is made from suede cord ($1), a lobster claw closure ($2), and a little charm ($1). It also helps to have a very sharp craft knife, a sharp needle for sewing, and a good thimble to help you push the needle through the suede.

I measured the length of cord needed to comfortably encircle my wrist 5 times. The cord was too wide to fit into the loop on the bottom of the lobster claw, so I used a craft knife to cut the cording in half. I then threaded one of the tails into the lobster claw and then sewed it in place.

On the other end, I sewed a little loop. I had to trim the cord's width so that it was thin enough for the lobster claw to close easily around it. Since this end of the cord is flexible, it'll be easy to slide the charm off and replace it with a different one if I want. Not bad for 4 bucks!

  3. This is gorgeous! I'm inspired now -- must make a trip to the craft store! I love the look of both the ribbon wrap bracelet and Dedegumo (swoon), so I see no reason not to give this a try! Thanks for sharing your instructions and inspiration.
